Things are good with us. Miles is getting so big.

He's almost six months old. Can't believe it's been that long already!

Isn't he so handsome!?!

He's so much happier these days.

And I think Diesel and Miles are going to be great friends.

They're so sweet together.

Can't wait to see what the next six months have in store for us!

It's been a little over two months and time is just flying by. I look back and realize just how much the little guy has grown. It's kinda sad, actually. But I am loving each day...even the tough ones. I am finally feeling like we are finding a groove and things are flowing much more smoothly. He's starting to smile more and more. I love that! And I enjoy the comments I get when we're out and about. People just love babies and want to talk about them.

So, it's been awhile and I keep promising Sue that I'll do better about keeping up with this. Sorry, Sue! There is so much going on in our lives right now. But here are a few things worth noting.

* Dustin has only three weeks left of residency!

*We close on our new house in Branson on Tuesday morning.

*Our current house is still on the market.

*Baby Rufus will be 32 weeks on Monday. He is about 4 pounds and 15 inches long.

*We got our diaper bag the other day. I love it and can't wait to start using it!

So it's been forever and a day since this thing has been updated.
Sorry! It's not that we don't have things to talk about. We've actually been pretty busy around here lately. We're planning a move to Branson, Missouri. Dustin's finishing up paperwork and contract stuff related to graduating from residency and starting his new job in August or September. We're starting to think about getting our house ready to put on the market. AND we're planning the arrival of a new little baby in August.

We apparently like to group big events in our life together. Whew!
The next few months are going to seem like a whirlwind!

Diesel's pretty excited about being a big sister. She's already planning on giving as many doggy kisses as we'll let her and sneaking in some sister snuggle time. And she's really looking forward to stealing little bits of food and treats from the little bitty paws/fingers.

Here's a pic of the new little soon-to-be Tripp in case you're interested. It was taken at about 9 weeks old. We're 17 weeks now and should have a new pic soon.

We were about to enjoy a nice mexican feast on Cinco de Mayo---deep fried tacos, strawberry mock pina coladas and tres leches cake.
Dustin grabbed the salsa and shook it, not realizing the lid wasn't completely secure.
I turned around to find salsa on the floor, cabinets, counter, refrigerator, walls and all over him.
While he stood there crying in pain from the salsa juices leaking into his eyes, I searched the house for the camera.

I participated in my first 5K on Thanksgiving morning.
Dustin's Mom, Grandpa and I woke up early to run.
It was a chilly morning, in the 20's.
We had a good time though. I hope to do it again.

A perfectionist, Bolin often works on a single photograph for up to 10 hours, shocking many passers-by when he finally moves. Bolin said his inspiration came from feeling like a social outcast.
“Some people call me the invisible man, but for me it’s what is not seen in a picture which is really what tells the story,” Mr Bolin told the UK’s Telegraph. “I experienced the dark side of society, without social relations, and had a feeling that no one cared about me, I felt myself unnecessary in this world. Last week I heard some exciting news about the good ol' Ozarks.

The Shoji Tabuji Theatre in Branson, won the coveted "America's Best Restroom"
plaque of recognition and secured its place in the "America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame. haha! Seriously! It's a real award. Here are some pictures.

Though my family has owned dogs as long as I can remember, I've never made a big deal about a dog's birthday. Probably partly because I didn't know when any of our dogs were born. And honestly, I've always kinda laughed to myself at those people who celebrated this "special" day. But I've officially become one of "those people." :)
We celebrated by going to Andy's and getting ice cream.

This past Friday was my birthday.

The Tripp family had a birthday party for me.
It was just your average, run-of-the-mill party.

They surprised Dustin and me with llamas.

Several weeks ago, we saw an ice sculpture
show/competition in Branson.
It was pretty neat!
The sculptors started around 10 in the morning
and had about 4 or 5 hours to finish their
sculpture and get it judged.

to be judged. Right after the judges left,
the sculpture shattered into many

My very lovely sister gave this to me for Christmas.
It's a knitted coffee sleeve.
I used it for the first time this week and, I have to say, it made the
already enjoyable act of coffee drinking even more beautiful.

So about this time every year I start to break down. I have just gotten through designing all of the Christmas and New Years ads for work. My mind is flustered with thoughts and ideas for the perfect gift for everyone. I go full-force into hiking through all of the frustrating holiday crowds. Christmas cards are usually at the printer, since I waited till the last minute to get them done....

I hear others talk about how this is their favorite season and I so wish I could agree. I love the snow and the lights and the trees and the decorations....but still, there's just too much stress and pressure. Why? This is supposed to be the time to enjoy life and people. Instead I find myself stressing out about where I'm going to be; who I'll get to see; what to get every aunt, cousin, friend and family member; what our Christmas card will look like;who to send it to; when I need to send out packages and how much it will cost to send them with express or priority shipping (since I was too busy stressing about everything else and missed the normal shipping time.)

So as of now, I have decided to slow down and enjoy this years' holiday season. I'm tired of trying to please everyone, and in turn, killing the holiday cheer for me. I'll get the best gifts I can find; design the best card I can; be where I can, when I can; sit back a little and even crack a smile maybe. It's going to be nice. I can tell.

Weekend Trails

This past weekend we went backpacking.
Yes, it was very very cold!!

We left Friday night after everyone got off work,
which meant we hiked
in and set up camp in the dark.

Here we are trying to figure out where we are and where we missed our turn.

It was a cold weekend, with very cold nights.
It was also opening weekend of deer season.
And we picked a very safe trail.

We all sported bright orange and yellow colors.
No one felt the need to feel the sting of a hunter's bullet.

There were many beautiful views along the way.
We peaked at about 1200 feet.
But we were up and down most of the walk.

He claims he was not hugging me, he was holding on for dear life!

Saturday night was especially cold.
I (Stacey) wore 7 shirts (long sleeve, sweatshirts, t-shirts...),
3 pairs of pants, two pairs of socks, a hat, gloves, handwarmers,
and I was stuffed inside a very warm mummy bag with
only my nose sticking out. I was still too cold to sleep!
Sunday morning, we woke up to frost on our sleeping bags inside
our tents and frozen water and gear.
The dogs had fun too. Though we wore them out.
Here they are very studiously watching their boys eat their lunch
and hoping they will drop just one little crumb of moose-goo or beef jerky for them to eat.

Cold, yes. Fun, definitely!

A few weekends ago, Dustin and I went to Kansas City.

He had a medical conference and I got to go along.
He went up earlier that day, so I met him when I got off work.
His car was ready to go, including printed out mapquest directions
and his whole collection of Adventures In Odyssey CDs to keep
me company on the 3 hour trip. How sweet!!! :)

While he was at the conference I spent my time sightseeing.

I went to the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.One of the main exhibits was really neat. There were tons of huge sculptures made completely of old used tires, wires and tools. I really enjoy different things like that and could have spent hours looking at these sculptures. It kinda reminded me of something my Dad would enjoy and maybe even try.

Outside the museum was this sculpture. It's called the Crying Giant.I got lunch at this little downtown joint.
It said "World Famous BBQ" so I knew it had to be good. It really was.

I took it to go and ate here, at this cute little river spot across the street.

Kansas City is called the "City of Fountains."
On my way back to the hotel to meet Dustin, I decided to check some of them out.

It wasn't running that day, so I didn't get to see it it's best.

I came home from work the other day,

to be greeted at our garage by our neighbor kid.
As I got out of my car, he asked me if I knew
where the "young boy that lived in the house" was.
He was wondering if "he could come out and play."
I had to hold back laughs as I told him that I would
go in and see if he was home. Sure enough, Dustin was home.
I told him that he could go out and play for awhile
while I made supper. But he had to be inside before dark.
:) haha! Not really. But he did go outside
and play with little Body for a while.

This past weekend was the start of the Ozark Empire Fair in town.

Lonestar opened up the fair with a great concert on Friday night.

Most of us are country music fans.
But even the non-country music lover enjoyed the show.

They have many #1 hits and put on a great show.
Even one of the guy's kid came out and performed for us.
He was such a cutie and just ate up the attention.

Borrow A Baby?

So Dustin and I have a new favorite TV show.
I'm not really into reality TV and I don't watch enough usually
to keep up with any show, but this one is pretty clever.
It's called "the Baby Borrowers."
Five young teenage couples who think they are ready
to be parents, will spend the next three weeks living together
for the first time in their own "borrowed" houses,
and taking care of "borrowed" children and elderly adults.
One teen maintains a full-time job, while the other stays home
to take care of the child. Meanwhile, the real parents are in their
own nearby house watching intently as these teens
frustratingly attempt to show the world that they are ready
to have children of their own.
We're into the second week and they have just finished Step One
of the experiment. We have seen fights between the couples,
a girl who absolutely refused to have anything to do with
the baby after she was approached by the mom,
selfish girls who do nothing but complain,
crying babies who need to be fed and changed,
teens calling home in tears and frustration...
The babies they were watching were just returned
to their parents and the "kids" were critiqued on how well they did.
Next they will be given toddlers to take care of.
I'm curious to see how that goes.
So the teens who thought they were ready,
are not quite as ready as they thought.
Turns out, taking care of babies is not easy! Wow! Who knew?!

So I decided to treat myself with a wonderful coffee goodness at lunch.
It's been a rough week and I really needed a wonderful, melt-in-your-mouth coffee drink.

Look at this beauty! It's a Mint Mocha Chip Frappuccino. Mmmmm!!!

It sure was tasty!!! From the bottom of the coffee flavor
to the top of the chocolate whipped cream, it was beautiful to the eyes
and to the taste buds! I enjoyed every sip wishing it would never end. :)

whirlwind of life

So, as you have probably noticed, we haven't posted on here in quite a while. Sorry! Truth is, I have actually started several posts but have stopped and deleted them because I wasn't sure how to word what's been going on around here lately. Life has been flying by like a whirlwind! I feel like I am constantly being pulled in different directions. But life is good. Busy isn't all bad.
The wedding is less than two weeks away. Crazy!! Lots of last minute planning and decisions to make. Things are coming together though and I am looking forward to "The Big Day"
We bought a house and are in the process of moving into it. I moved most of my stuff last weekend and this weekend we will move Dustin in. We'll try to post some pics soon.
So that's just a quick update into the lives of Dustin and Stacey.

Since our last blog left you hanging and trying to figure out where our

Dustin found out Thursday that he will start his residency in June
right here in Springfield, Missouri. Yay!!
That was very exciting news to us! I think deep down,
we already knew that. But it still is such a sigh
of relief to hear it for sure.
So now comes the fun part...house hunting!!

So, I got a call the other day from the office of my apartment complex. Apparently, they have been having internet problems and the IT guy came out and pinned the problem down to MY APARTMENT. My wireless router had killed the internet for the ENTIRE APARTMENT COMPLEX. haha! I've had that thing now for over a year, without any problems. But apparently it's finished. :) The nice girl in the office very kindly informed me that they had shut off our internet until we were able to unplug and trash the problem router. :)

It's A String Thing!

So last night I decided to do some laundry. I grabbed a stack full of clothes from my closet and carried them to the washer. While walking, I felt a weird tug from the clothes but couldn't see anything so I ignored it and continued on. After the washer was started I turned around to walk back to my room and saw that there was string coming from the washer and, after following the trail, I saw that it led back to my starting point, down the hall and into my room closet. I had a spool of thread in the floor of my closet and it had gotten attached to my clothes.

So yesterday was Bahne's birthday.
Being the not-so-great-friend that I am, I am posting this a day late!
Sorry! Hope you had a truly great birthday!
It seems like just yesterday when we were in school together, or taking family vacations to Texas to visit your family, or playing pranks on gullible little April, or walking to Six Flags for the day.
Many many really fun memories!!
Now we live far away from each other and live very different lives. But I still cherish our friendship and am so glad we have been able to keep in touch over the years. Someday I will be able to come visit you in your hometown and your surroundings!

Cookies! I Mean, Dog Treats!

So I went Christmas shopping last night. Now I just couldn’t forget the little puppy dogs in my life so I made a little stop at the local doggie bakery here in town.

They make all sorts of unique treats and things for dogs. We went in for the first time last weekend and I was completely amazed at the creativity in this place! They had doggie bling, bath robes and booties, hats, complete outfits, doggie beds, unique food and water bowls, hair bows, doggie perfume and much much more...

One of their specialties, is freshly baked dog treats. Now these are no ordinary dog treats you would find at Wal-Mart or your local pet store. If you didn’t know better, you would think these were Christmas cookies your Mom would make for your family Christmas gathering. They’re all natural and made of peanut butter or chicken liver flavoring and cleverly decorated with yogurt and carob. Here is what I left with. It took quite a bit of time to decide, they're all so amazing!

So I realized it's been a really really long time since we last posted. Sorry! Life has been crazy here! With all the holiday stuff, med-school stuff and wedding planning, we are pretty busy!
Usually Christmas is a fun time for me. I enjoy all of the planning, gift buying, baking and decorating. This year however has been extremely rough! I have been so stressed at work that I leave there every day just overwhelmed and exhausted. I feel bad for Dustin who has to deal with my crankiness! The other day I noticed that when people ask me how I'm doing, my first response has been to tell them that I'm ready for all of this holiday madness to be over.

I feel like such a Grinch!

So in an attempt to get myself back in the holiday spirit, I decided to finally put up my Christmas M&M village. I just started collecting it last year so it's still pretty slim. But I still like it!

So folks, it's finally official!
Dustin and I are getting married May, 3rd 2008 at
the Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield, Missouri.
We have been hoping and planning for this but were not able to reserve
this very cool theatre before 6 months in advance to the event.
So yesterday was the 6 month date
and we went in and signed the contract.

How did Springfieldians keep warm during the cold cold days?

This past January, Springfield was hit by a huge ice storm. It destroyed trees and plant life and threw out power to almost the entire city for days. It was one of the craziest things I haver been through. I was out of power for two weeks. Luckily I was able to stay with Dustin's family (since they were only out of power a couple of days). I felt very grateful to have that luxury at a time like that and actually kind of enjoyed those two weeks. The ice was beautiful and since I don't own a home yet, I had nothing to worry about as far as property damage. I realized during those two weeks how much we rely on and take advantage of electricity.

The front page of our paper today had this news story. I had heard about this before, but still found it quite funny!

It's Racing Time!!

A couple of weekends ago, Dustin and I went to a Nascar Busch Series race. I was given free tickets from a co-worker and neither of us had ever been. So we packed ourselves up and took the 3 hour drive to the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. What an adventure!

We got there around 11:00 am. The main race started at 2:00 so we decided to use the time before to check out the merchandise and roam around the track. All the big-name racers had their trucks of clothes and stuff to sell. Being the huge M&M fan that I am, I had to get a picture with David Gilliland's truck( he drives the M&M car).

After shopping, we found our seats and made it in time to see the big name guys come out on the track and practice for their big race the next day. That was cool! We saw Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, David Gilliland, ...and a ton more. :)

Then the main race began! After donning our awesome fashionable earplugs, we were ready to enjoy the action! That race was, without a doubt, the loudest event I have ever attended! Other than the roar of the engines, you couldn't hear a single thing. Dustin and I found out that we do not communicate well without words. It was actually quite funny!!

And the winner was.....#5 Kyle Busch!! Not our first pick, but still exciting to see!

Meet Me In St. Louis!

A couple of weekends ago, we went with some good friends to St. Louis for the weekend. We had some great times! We started the weekend by watching a hot air balloon race. Over 50 balloons of all shapes and sizes took off from Forest Park in the city. Unfortunately, after we had taken 20 or 30 pictures, my camera decided to reformat the SD card and all of my pictures have been lost. Hopefully we can get some copies of pictures taken by our friends and we will post them later for your enjoyment. Later that day we went to the City Museum, which was pretty much just a huge 3-story jungle gym for adults!! It was awesome! Click on the link above to see a photo tour from the museum website.

Exciting Baseball Game

So last week we went to a Springfield Cardinals baseball game. Ya know, before coming to Springfield, I was never really a baseball fan. But Dustin's family is and they keep track of the Cards. And it's almost illegal to live in Missouri and have the last name "Cardinal" and not be a Cardinals fan!

So at this game, not only did the Cardinals win. But Dustin also caught a fly ball, barehanded! It went behind home, bounced off the suites and landed right in Dustin's hand! Very exciting! I would share a picture of this cool event, but Dustin, being the nice guy that he is, gave the ball to a little boy that was sitting a couple seats away and was also in the running for that catch. Awwww...how sweet!

Also during that game, a couple guys behind us were visited by the cops and escorted out of the stadium for buying some underage kids some beer. Nice! Apparently, one of them had just gotten off parole. Too bad! Guess he's right back on!

A Tale Of A Little Princess

Dustin and I volunteer in our Nursery and Kids' area at our church. Usually we are with the 1st through 5th graders. But occasionally we are asked to help out with the younger ones. This Sunday I was asked to help out in the 2 & 3 year olds. It was quite fun!
At the end I was helping one of the girls put her shoes on and she said the cutest thing!
Stacey: These are very pretty shoes.
cutie pie girl: Yah! They're my princess shoes.
Stacey: Wow!
cutie pie girl: And this is my princess dress. (pointing to the colorful summer dress she was wearing)
Stacey: Well that's pretty too. Are you a princess?
cutie pie girl: Yes. But I'm not getting married yet.
haha! Apparently, being a princess means you immediately get married!

The Dress!

This weekend I got my wedding dress! After 2 1/2 hours on Saturday and 2 1/2 hours on Sunday, I was finally able to decide! It's very exciting but also stressful and crazy! At one point, I wanted to cry! It was so hard! But I did it! I am one HUGE step closer to walking down the aisle! I can't believe it's really real! At first I felt like I was playing dress up! It was fun! My Mom (and Dad for part of it), friend Calee and soon to be Mom-In-Law were there to experience the excitement and help me pick out "the dress" and I had a wonderful, patient personal assistant/coordinator named Leslie who, funny enough, is getting married in May also. :) I am a bit sad this part of the process is over, but I think I came out with a knock-out dress! I can't describe it here (I don't want to spoil it for Dustin) so you'll just have to wait till next year. We'll post pics after the wedding.

Dustin's Movie Update!

So I'm not one of those people that checks out movie trailers online all the time, but I happened to be looking around today and thought I'd share my most-anticipated-yet-likely-generally-unknown upcoming movie. I guess it technically was released the 20th, but it comes to Springfield tomorrow. The movie is...(drumroll please)..."SUNSHINE". Sounds like a happy feel good movie right? Well, let me tell you that it's probably more happy feel good than the last movie this director and star teamed up to do. What movie would that be you might ask? The masterful "28 Days Later." If you haven't seen that movie, you should definitely check it out...it's a zombie/horror movie that's actually good (awesome actually)! Anyway, back to "Sunshine". Brief plot, "50 years into the future, the Sun begins to die, and Earth is dying as a result. A team of astronauts are sent to revive the Sun - but the mission fails. Seven years later, a new team are sent to finish the mission as they are Earth's last hope." And from the trailer, all kinds of crazy crap is going to happen! Anyway, you can check out the trailers here.

And my "What The Crap?" award goes to "1-18-08." Yep, that appears to be the title (or maybe just the release date and they don't have a name yet). Check out the trailer here and the equally odd website you'll be saying "What the crap?" too! But it's from producer J.J. Abrams (woohoo Lost!), so it may be really good, but I have no clue what's going on from the trailer...apparently there's a party and then stuff starts getting destroyed. That's all I got. While I'm not as completely in love with Columbia as most people are that live here, there is a small handful of things that I will really miss once I leave. One of the main things I'll miss is BXR, quite possibly the best radio station I've ever heard. Springfield definitely has nothing like it. I guess to try to describe the music they play, I would say it's pop/rock/folk type music (think of the songs on the Garden State soundtrack and you have a pretty good idea), and a lot of times it's from artists I've never heard of before. They have introduced me to artists like Snow Patrol, Jack Johnson, Little Willies, and Postal Service, and they play great music from other bigger name artists I know like Fiona Apple, Carbon Leaf, Foo Fighters, Nickel Creek, The Shins, Train, and The Wallflowers.

My current amazing song of choice is The Story by Brandi Carlile. This song is, in my opinion, unbelievable. Her voice is pretty rough, but, man, it works beautifully. Just now I've listened to the song like 10 times in a row, and I get chills every time. Her website has 30 second clips of all her songs, and her MySpace has 4 full songs (including The Story) that you can listen to which are all definitely worth your time. Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think!

What a Week!

So I had a really really rough week at work. We have several big and exciting things going on right now, which is good, but also very stressful. Each new thing required lots of promotion and designing projects for me and the other designer.

Now, I love being busy and I love all these new things. They keep me learning and pushing myself. But I'm pretty sure my computer is semi-human and can sense when I have big things going on. It always starts freaking out right in the middle of some big and important deadlines. At one point this week, I had several things that were due right then and my computer froze and then wouldn't boot up again. I worked for half an hour just getting it to start. I was just about in tears!
So this last week, we were given a million and one things to do and just a few small minutes to do them. That's how it usually is. By the time we get an assignment, it was really due yesterday. So this week I pushed myself farther than I have ever before (I thought college was tough!), working most days through lunch breaks and most days either coming in early or staying late (sometimes both). With both jobs I worked over 60 hours last week, being stressed out and wondering if I was going to finish even half of what needed to be done. I was emotionally and physically exhausted!

Now here's the funny ironic thing! A while back, I was given a little desk card holder that houses about 100 or so little cards with Scripture verses and devotionals on them. This week I flipped over a card and this was my verse of the week.
Ephesians 6:7 "Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." When I first flipped that over on Monday morning, I didn't pay much attention to it. But as the week went on I kept looking at it and thinking, "How funny that God would give me that verse this week!"

The Standardized Patient

So it seems like everyone and their brother always asks me about what medical school is like when they find out that's what I'm doing. And I'm always happy to share. But here's an article I found with the opposite point of view...what it's like being the first patient for a group of med students (scary!). Here's an idea:

There are some obvious things you hope no doctor ever says to you, but on this assignment, I discovered there are a few others:
"I have to admit I have some butterflies."
"I've never felt anyone's liver."
"I'm so sorry! Are you all right?"

It's a funny and actually (maybe scarily) a pretty accurate article. Looking back, I can see a little bit of myself when I started out with patients in some of the students the article talks about...hopefully, my comfort and skills have improved at least a little bit (for example, I have not said "Oops!" while doing a pelvic exam since my first!).

On a related note, most likely everyone that knows me has already heard me talk about this book, but if you like this article, then you should definitely check out Stiff: The Curious Lives Of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach, probably my favorite book of all time. In fact, I had to look and see if Mary Roach had written the article as well. She hadn't, but very well could have. If you want to borrow Stiff, let me know...I actually have 2 copies. :) But, just to warn you, once you read it, you'll probably want to have a copy (or 2) to own forever and ever. Anyway, enjoy!

Vote for Springfield! Springfield, MO that is...

If you haven't heard, they're holding a contest to determine in which Springfield the Simpsons Movie premiere will be on July 27th. One of the 14 possible Springfields is none other than good ol' Springfield, MO! Each candidate city made a 5 minute film which can now be watched online and voted on to determine where the premiere will be. If you watch the Springfield, MO video and listen real close, you may be able to hear Stacey and me in the stadium shots booing and cheering! That's right, we were there! Yep, we're movie stars now (no autographs please).

I've now spent over an hour watching all 14 clips, and, although I may be a bit biased, I think I have to say that Springfield, MO's is by FAR the best! Don't believe me? Check them out. Most of them are pretty craptastic (*cough* Florida *cough*). Anyway, even if you don't want to watch them, you should all still vote for Springfield, MO and then tell all your friends, family, and maybe even a distant acquaintance or two to vote for Springfield, MO too!

Keith Urban Concert!

For my birthday, my Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother bought Dustin and I tickets to see Keith Urban in concert in good Ol' St. Louis. He is one of our favs.

It was a wonderful, wonderful time. I screamed my brains out. :) It was so amazing being there! I couldn't believe I was standing there listening to the great Keith Urban! Crazy!! So some of you are probably thinking "Who in the heck is this Keith Urban dude?" Well, here's his site if you want to check him out.

It all started with him rising out of the floor. And the crowd went crazy! A lady behind us took our picture with Keith Urban! He's in the middle, between our heads. Far away, but still in the picture. :)

One good thing (there were many good things) was that there was not a bad seat in the house. Behind the stage was a ginormous screen that showed Keith close up. In the next few pics you can see this. If you look at the bottom right you can see our veiw of Keith without the screen and then you see him close-up on the screens. Amazing! You could see the holes in his shirt and the sweat on his face. It was that close!!

There also was a platform where they came out into the audience and played for awhile. We were on the first level of seats and were pretty close to this little stage.
At the end, they shot confetti everywhere. You could barely see him through the mass of flying colors.

And then all the greatness ended, or so we thought (well not really. We knew he'd be back for an encore). We cheered for, what seemed like an hour, before he came back to play several more amazing songs. He told us he called his wife, Nicole Kidman, while he was back stage. I guess that's allowed! :) The wait was well well worth it!

Thanks Mom, Dad, Ape and Nick! We had sooooooo much fun! It was the greatest B-Day gift ever! Love ya!!!!!

So Dustin found this comic in the paper and cut it out for me. I am a graphic designer and find myself constantly on the computer. There are many times where I have questioned whether I am in the right field though. I love it, but sometimes I get the feeling that there is a secret computerhood plotting evil against me. Things always go wrong when computers and I get together! I can't tell you how many times I have gotten into a bind and called a tech support guy or a fellow designer for help, just to hear them say, "What in the world have you done? I've never seen that before!" ha! That's just what I want to hear the tech support guy say! :)
So anyways, this little comic brought a smile to me and I thought I'd share it with you. Enjoy!

Kids, Ninjas, and Jetskis

So on my first real post on the blog, I decided to tackle not 1, not 2, but 3 (count 'em 3!) topics!

First, kids. Kids these days are growing up so fast. And it's always nice to see supportive parents. I saw this article today on MSN and it just warms the heart to see how parents are helping their kids do things never before thought possible. A couple in India had so much faith in their 15 year old son and just wanted the best for him that they cheated, forged records, endangered human life, concealed evidence, and abetted a crime just to help their kid. What was the son doing you might ask? Nothing much...just delivering a baby by C-section to set a world record as the youngest surgeon ever. Nothing says love like putting someone else's life in danger just to see your kid's name in the Guinness Book of World Records. I mean, these are parents that have their priorities in order. If only I can be half as supportive as these parents when I have a kid. :) Here's the whole article...

And finally, jetskis. So this is pretty much just for Peter, and, actually, I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know this blog exists right now, but I'll fix that right after I finish this post. Anyway, I was checking out the latest HomestarRunner short and, lo and behold, there was a jetski! And not only a jetski, but to my untrained eyes it looks like a stand up!
